US presidenial campaign adverts: we’ve seen cheesy, we’ve seen silly, we’ve seen OTT and we’ve even seen funny, but we’ve never seen this:

Herman Cain, the first post-post-post-modern candidate?

[UPDATE: The Herman Cain campaign has confirmed to CBS news that the ad is real and not a hoax. Oh dear!]

I think you’ll find the Honours for the most ‘pomo’ candidate ever go to Mike Gravel’s frankly arthouse campaign in 2007-2008. ‘Rock’ is sublime. http://youtu.be/0rZdAB4V_j8/

Alternatively you could go for mike huckabee’s campaign with Chuck Norris http://youtu.be/MDUQW8LUMs8 from the same era

This is amazing, and it appears to be real (unless someone’s hacked into his YouTube channel…) We need more political campaigns like this. I’ll take distressingly avant-garde over bland any day of the week.
